Hey! I'm Emma, originally Scottish but spent my childhood moving around the world so not sure it counts... Anyway, I've not long moved to Bristol to study contemporary circus at Circomedia circus school. So strangely enough I love doing circus skills: juggling, acrobalance, aerials and I've just learnt to unicycle!
Before that I studied archaeology for 5 years, mostly studying the vikings.

Among my multitude of other interests are art and crafts: I do some drawing, painting and other crafts like leatherworking. I also love music, listening to everything from traditional Scottish music to jazz and metal. I also play a bit of traditional Scottish and Irish music. Being outdoors is also a passion of mine, especially going walking and hopefully more camping in the future. I do rock climbing too (only indoors at the moment though!). Other interests are animals, reading (mostly fantasy and sci-fi), board games and vegetarian cooking since I've been vegetarian about 10 years.

I'm quite a quiet person and can be a bit shy but I am really interested in meeting people from different cultures with different lifestyles and getting to know them. That's basically the reason I became an archaeologist to look at the way people live in different places and cultures. So yeah, that's me! :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing just genuinely makes sense to me, to stay with local people, share experiences, get insider knowledge on the culture and place you are staying in while sharing your outlook on it as a visitor. It seems like a more genuine way to experience new places than staying in a hotel and just visiting the standard tourist sites. I also like that it allows people to travel on a more limited budget which opens up so much more opportunity to explore the world.
