About Me
Hi! I’m Emma, and I’m travelling through Japan with my partner of 9 years, Robbie. We’ve been here since January on a working holiday visa and plan to stay a few more months before heading on to South Korea, Vietnam, and Thailand.
We’re both Scottish—so honestly, if the sun is out, we’re happy! We love swimming in the sea, exploring new places, and spending time working in our travel sketchbooks—cutting up interesting wrappers, peeling stickers off coffee cups, collecting eki stamps, and doing wee illustrations along the way. We’re big fans of Japanese curry (we’ve tried a lot!), and enjoy sharing a few drinks in the sun when we can.
One of our favourite things about travelling is meeting new people, hearing their stories, sharing a bit about life in Scotland and having a good time! We have a dog called Winnie who’s staying with family back home—so if you have a dog, we’d be delighted to give them some love while we’re around!
Before this trip, I worked in community arts and ran a concrete design studio. Robbie worked for many years in hospitality management, was a full-time musician for a while when his band was signed to Columbia Records, so he got to tour and do the whole music thing. He still loves music and likes finding new bands to listen to, and we'd love to go to some local gigs.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We’re hoping to meet kind people, learn about your life, and maybe get a peek at some of the hidden gems only locals know about. And when we’re back in Edinburgh, we’d love to host you in return!
