About Me

Hi! I'm Emma, a 24yr old girl from Belgium and currently on my first solo adventure travelling around Australia 😊

After graduating from university and dreading the idea of having to start a full time corporate job, I decided to fulfill my lifelong dream of travelling! So here I am, a couple months later, travelling solo around Australia!

Growing up I have been lucky enough to travel to various European countries. The Austrian alps have become my second home, thanks to my family's biannual vacations there. We'd go once in the summer for hiking and once in the winter for skiing. That's how I learned that I love the mountains and being outdoors and active. I have also had the fortune of visiting many other European countries and cities which is how I learned that I love exploring new places, new cultures and meeting new people!

So now that I'm older and have my own money I finally have the opportunity to explore the world beyond Europe and I grabbed that opportunity with both hands and am enjoying every second of it 😁

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Simply visiting a place never feels enough for me. I want to be able to experience what it's like to live in a certain place. That requires staying somewhere for a longer period of time, which is unfortunately expensive, even if you're staying in hostels. Couchsurfing offers me the opportunity to stay somewhere for a longer period of time, because I can avoid the high accommodation costs.

Another great advantage point is the fact that I love meeting new people and having a nice conversation. However I am definitely more of introvert so being around large groups of people for an extended period of time can be overwhelming and exhausting to me. So I love couchsurfing because it gives me the opportunity to connect with other people, and even locals, in a more laidback way. Furthermore, I've noticed that while travelling it's easy to make friends with other travellers but I rarely have friends that are locals. So I really hope that by couchsurfing I can connect with locals as well

Interests

Mainly, I love being outdoors and active but really I'd say my interests are very broad! Even with things I'm not familiar with yet, I'm up to learn anything and willing try most things at least once :)

Teach, Learn, Share

Not sure what I have to teach others. Gonna have to think about that for a while

I would love to learn about you!
If I had to say one thing I'd really wanna learn about right now, it'd be art. I really love going to art museums (mainly contemporary art) but I don't really know much about it.

Let's share meals, stories, laughs...
