ABOUT ME

I'm 22 from London(ish) and have just finished my degree in Physics and Chemistry at Durham. I'm now about to start my teacher training in East London (ahhh so excited!!) I shall be teaching physics and secondary science, but hopefully the students won't hate me too much for that.
When I was at uni I did a variety of things although a certain first aid organisation seemed to take up quite a lot of my time, although I was usually too busy being the social secretary and assistant leader for Badgers and Cadets to actually go on duties.
For college I was also on a few social / ball committees, which involved A LOT of drawing and painting, which (fortunately) I happen to enjoy.
Reading through my out dated profile I see I wanted to do a bungee jump and I did that this year! 175ft... outside Durham Cathedral... much more scary than I thought it was going to be... getting scared just thinking about it!! But it was fun - in an "OMG I'm going to die" kind of way. :S
Other things I have done/ like to do: Scuba diving & marine conservation in Fiji (including shark dives :D), Trekking in the Andes, helped build a playground in the Amazon, drinking more than I should, reading, listening to music - other normal things.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My housemates in Durham and I enjoyed taking in a couple of couch surfers this year - one of them has now moved to Durham and we've become pretty good friends with him :) I'm looking forward to hosting people when I have my own flat too.

Music: my music taste is very influenced my my parents, but I still like a lot of more recent stuff - Dire Straits, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Hendrix, The Beatles, Blur, The Eagles, Jimmy Eat World, Athlete, Biffy Clyro, Mumford and Sons, The XX, Muse, The Killers, Kings of Leon and A LOT else I have a pretty full iPod.

Movies: I confess I like girly films - The Notebook, Love Actually, P.S. I Love You... but strangely my current favourite is The Last King of Scotland.

Books: I mainly read classics. My favourites would probably be One flew over the cuckoo's nest, Jude the Obscure, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Pride and Predudice and quite a few others.

Watching wild horses running down the valley we were trekking in the Andes (unfortunately our mules decided to follow...)

How to Make Mojito:
1. Put a small handfull of mint leaves and a few slices of lime in a cocktail shaker and muddle (mash up - you can use the end of a rolling pin or a spoon)
2. Add a double shot of nice rum and lots of ice
3. Put the lid on the cocktail shaker and shake it.
4. Tip entire contents of the shaker into a tall glass
5. Top up with soda water (leave a small gap)
6. Stir
7. Pour in some gomme syrup until it is sweet enough (if you don't have gomme syrup add two tea spoons of brown sugar at stage 1)
8. Enjoy!
