CURRENT MISSION

I travel to Paris several times a year and in July 2014 I enjoyed interchanging views with a Parisian couchsurfer. I am my own boss. I teach Spanish as well as beginner's French courses and lately a lot of German classes (for refugees living in Austria) and I hosted quite a few couchsurfers in August and Sept. 2014. I cannot host anybody at present.

ABOUT ME

I was born and raised near Vienna, I worked most of my life in Vienna and several years in South America and in Geneva (CH). I moved to Salzburg seven years ago and this is where I intend to spend the rest of my life. I am a sportive person. After having played tennis and been an aerobics trainer, my latest hobby was marathon running which I gave up a few years ago (I competed for twelve years.). Now I enjoy cycling. I showed quite a few couchsurfers Salzburg city on foot in summer 2014. :-) Now I don't have much time anymore.

I am very interested in contacts with foreign cultures, foreign language movies and we have one cinema in town which shows every film in the original version (English, French, Spanish, Danish... whatever): "DAS KINO". I am a fan! I am a person of many fields of interest - I enjoy classical music just as much as jazz or fado and I read a lot (when I have time) and collect books. You can talk to me about travels, history, books... even yoga and tai chi... and salads... it's unlikely that we will not find a topic of common interest ... but I CANNOT REACT to REQUESTS on SHORT NOTICE... please give me one week's time ahead (or more)! ;-) NOTE: I am not a "big" cook and not overly interested in cooking either. But... I like Ayurveda cooking and... I like to eat (vegetarian and Arabic food).
Note: I am NOT a professional tour guide but I can share some hints on Salzburg city and if you are interested and I have time we can wander around a little. On the whole I am rather busy, so will probably only host for 1 night. Sometimes I have time around noon (while I start to work afternoons and teach evening classes).

PHILOSOPHY

I am an outgoing person, interested in different cultures, especially in Latinamerican, French and Italian cities, literature - I am a big fan of Latinamerican and Russian literature, movies and habits and in oriental cultures (including their religions) as well. I have a good sense of humor.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I joined CS in summer 2014 and have had many - mostly positive - CS experiences already. I traveled to Paris that summer and the years after. In 2014 I had a lot of nice exchanges with interested CS'ers arriving at my home town, Salzburg city. I have several favorite cafés downtown - or you could eat out Sri Lankan style... or Austrian style - I could recommend places to you. You can write to me in English, French or Spanish. Tu peux m'ecriver en francais, si tu veux. Puedes escribirme en castellano, si quieres. PLEASE NOTE: I cannot react on short-notice requests! It is amazing that some travellers cannot read and/or understand this phrase... I will be rather busy at work and will not be able to spend much time with you but I will readily share information on what to see and do in Salzburg city.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I already had numerous - mostly positive - couchsurfing experiences in summer 2014, since a Norwegian friend of mine had convinced me that "one" should be member of the CS community and... here I am! I also enjoyed talking to a Couchsurfer in Paris while I spent five days there in July 2014 and am already in contact with people from all over the world so... this WAS a "busy" and interesting summer... PLEASE NOTE THAT SALZBURG CITY IS POPULAR WITH TOURISTS ALL YEAR ROUND ... and there are a lot of CS requests to "us all"! so you might want do do some planning ahead of time.

Foreign countries - I used to travel a lot in former years Bulgaria, Germany (Hamburg), Portugal (Lisboa), Spain (Barcelona, Madrid, Ávila, Bilbao), Switzerland (Geneva, Lausanne, Zürich, Bern), Copenhagen, Sweden, Norway, Belgium, France, Northern Italy (mainly Florence; Lucca), Ireland (Republic of), UK (London), Jersey (Channel Islands), Cracow (PL), USA (San Francisco, Illinois, Miami, New England, New York City, Atlanta, GA), Argentina (Bs.As.), Chile, Brazil, Tunesia and one business trip to Hong Kong, many years ago. Recently I traveled to Belgrade (Serbia) and Montenegro. I have always practised sports - at present I mostly go cycling (I ran marathons in Graz (Austria), Hamburg, Copenhagen and Florence). I enjoy movies in their original languages as well as English, U.S. American, South American literature, detective stories (Austrian, Swedish, Icelandic). I am not much into cooking but I like to go out to eat (in good company) ... ... ... and I love... chocolate. Ah, yes, I even tried yoga and tai chi recently.
