I'm from Tipperary in the Republic of Ireland. After a few years writing my PhD on the relationship between foreign policy and national identity, I moved to London to work as a researcher and then a lecturer at Kingston University.

I haven't really participated as much as I would have liked, but I intend to more in the future as I think it's a brilliant idea.

Minimal but positive.

Watch a lot of TV and films but struggling to name favourites (too many).
I listen to all sorts of music - rap, electronic, rock, soul...
Samuel Beckett, Elmore Leonard, J.G. Farrell and James Kelman are some of my favourite authors.

Istanbul - all of it, it's my favourite city. But getting a horse-drawn carriage on the island of Buyukada and then having a traditional Turkish meal at a private beach was definitely up there.
