CURRENT MISSION

Meet new people and travel the world

ABOUT ME

I am called Emma, I am 18 from Cambridge, UK. At the moment I am on gap year and I am travelling to Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, India, USA (California and New York) Peru and Bolivia on a round the world trip before I go to university in September. I am always keen to learn about new cultures as I find it so interesting and thought provoking. I am open minded, and can understand everyone's opinions. I am friendly, approachable and I love meeting new people from all over the world as you can learn so much and have fun.

Interests

Politics- I will be studying this as a degree. I have in depth knowledge on British and American politics which I find fascinating but I am keen to learn about other political cultures in the Middle East and Asia. Whilst I am travelling I will be learning about new political systems through reading and visiting the countries.

Music- I play in a band in which I write all the music for and record it regularly plus play the odd gig from time to time. I love all different genres and write acoustic music on my own but in my band we play dubstep, pop and alternative, indie music. I am very creative and it is a huge part of my life. I also listen to music everyday, love talking about it and going to concerts and festivals to see it live as I think there is nothing like it!

Travelling- Seeing new cultures and meeting new people is so important, on my round the world trip I'll be seeing extreme contrasts which will be incredibly interesting.

Art- I enjoy drawing, painting and visiting art galleries. Its a way to relax for me.

Books- I like reading political and history books but also fiction books.

Movies- Not very into action movies but I will always watch them anyway! I like movies with an interesting plot and something which is unique.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Working in an orphanage and teaching at a slum school in Faridabad, India near Delhi-
At the moment I am visiting an orphanage every day for 2 weeks and helping with homework, helping them get ready for school and providing a family environment. It is so great getting to know the kids and teaching them english but also providing care. I also teach at the slum school after the orphanage which is very difficult but very rewarding. I have been teaching simple english language, when a kid understands what I'm teaching and is tested and gets the answer correct, it is such a great feeling to know they have learnt something but also to see their excitement and enthusiasm to learning. I am staying in an Indian family home which is great to see the indian culture not one a tourist view.

South Africa-
