About Me

I am originally from Los Angeles, but my family moved to upstate NY when I was 10, so I think of myself as a bi-coastal gal, or a nomad. Much of who I am is reminiscent of both places, in stark contrast of one another. I am also, inevitably, sort of a person without a place, and I like it that way.

I am in the process of moving across the country from New York to California.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love the barter system. I also love to travel, and know how nice it is to have a place to sleep where you can feel safe, while also getting a taste of the local culture you would never get at a hotel. There is culture everywhere, even in the small rural town where I live; all one needs to do is seek it out.

Music, Movies, and Books

My music tastes are all over the place. Anything that's done well, I like.

My favorite movies are The Great Beauty (La Grande Bellazza) and The Departed.

I love all well-written books, both classic and contemporary. Also, anything written by Margaret Atwood. All works by William James will have my heart 'til the end of time.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My senior thesis from school is probably it. I conducted all my fieldwork in Spanish, traveled to Mexico City to the Basílica de Guadalupe, and translated all of it myself back to English. It was titled “Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe in Action: Consecration as an Artistic Act of Social Reconstruction," a socio-theoretical inquiry into the concept of sacrality and its experience within or through entities or bodies by practitioners of religion, specifically focusing on the experience of the apparition and symbol of the Lady of Guadalupe by Mexican and Mexican American Catholics.

Teach, Learn, Share

Just tell me about yourself and where you are from, tell me a little something of your experience of this world, and I'll be happy to do the same.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can currently only share in conversation, or I can gift some wine.
