About Me

** I am currently realizing my dream of traveling across Latin America and as such I am not able to host for a while. Looking forward to hosting you once I get back! **

Have you ever been to a country or simply a place and just felt like you belonged there? This happened to me in Mexico. I love the Latin American culture in general and sometimes feel like I should have been born there.

I have seven great passions: sustainability, hiking, traveling, public speaking, languages, dancing, and socializing. I'd love to share some of them with you!

I'm the chairperson for an environmental NGO in which I'm also the project lead for a project on climate change adaptation in the Sundarbans, West Bengal, India. Volunteering and especially development work is something that has made me grow immensely as a person, both professionally and personally, and I cannot recommend it enough.

In the future I want to work with clean water and sanitation, climate change adaptation, and stormwater management. I'd love to learn more about how these things work in your country and your own experiences.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

A friend recommended it to me, and I think it's an excellent way of traveling and making new friends all over the world. Also, when I travel, I don't want to simply be a tourist. I want to see and do wonderful and interesting things that only locals know about, in order to really get to know the culture and the people.

Music, Movies, and Books

Oh! I have lots. One of my favorite book series will forever be Harry Potter. (I grew up with my Dad reading them to me. Such nice memories.) One of my favorite authors in newer days is Sarah J. Maas and her series Throne of Glass. Absolutely mindblowing. In general I prefer fantasy books.

Movies: "Free Solo". By far the best (and most nerve-racking!) movie and documentary that I have ever seen! I would also like to add the movie "Don't Look Up" as one of my absolute favorites because of its pure satire of our current society and its inability to act, creating a strong call for action. Also, Leonardo DiCaprio is starring in it, and he is just mindblowing (as always).

Series: The Korean rom-com "Crash Landing on You". So funny and cute!

Music: Eminem, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, Linkin Park, P!nk, Dua Lipa, Sia, Bad Bunny, Karol G, Danny Ocean, Pinto Picasso, Esme, Tessa, Christopher, Saint Clara, Rasmus Seebach. Salsa, bachata and reggaeton music in general. (Yes, I love dancing!)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It impossible to decide on only one, so here are a few:
- Walking the Darién rainforest in Panama and reaching Pechito Parado, the place where Vasco Núñez de Balboa (a Spanish conquistador) first spotted the Pacific Ocean back in 1513
- Hiking the Thorsborne Trail on Hinchinbrook Island
- Follow my heart and go back to a place where I belong
- Climbing and summiting Golep Kangri (5950 m) and Stok Kangri (6153 m) in Ladakh, India
- Hiking solo in the Făgăraș mountains in Romania
- Dancing with strangers in the park Alameda Central in CDMX, Mexico
- Spending New Year's Eve on the beach with two friends I'd met the day before and a bottle of wine
- Climbing and summiting Huayna Potosí (6088 m) en La Paz, Bolivia (way more of a mountaineering adventure than my first 6000 m climb!)

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: How to live life without plastics, tricks to learning any language, my mistakes so that you can avoid them, the joy in the simplest things, appreciation of a body without injuries, how to cook a filling vegan meal, the benefits of solo traveling, how to avoid bike rage, public speaking techniques

Learn: Anything you're willing to teach me!

Share: Time, experiences, WiFi, shower and soap, clean towel, a hearty vegan meal, languages, interests, my network, my friends. Mi casa es tu casa!

What I Can Share with Hosts
