About Me

"Inside every heart is a pair of wings." - Café Triste, Zhu Shaolin

In a nutshell: originally from Hong Kong, went abroad in 2017, lived for long chunks in the UK and Rome, Italy

I'm rather spontaneous... and am learning not to think too much (:

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

i believe strongly in relationships and conversations: no matter how amazing the landscapes we have seen, how ancient the temples we have visited, or how sumptuous the feasts we have savoured- it's always the interactions that were the most truly memorable parts of an experience. Ultimately, there are this many places one can go to in a lifetime, but conversations can take one way further.

Interests

Food is a big part of my life: while at home I love baking for my friends, creating new flavour combinations and incorporating twists into dishes. Italy taught me about fresh ingredients- I'm on a journey to explore the origins of food! Travelling I'm a keen explorer of local cuisines- am simply keen to try anything and everything!

Film photography is very close to my heart. I'm still figuring it out... travelling is the best occasion to practise.

I was recently exposed to the world of solo travelling, hitchhiking and workaways- would love to hear your experiences (:

I guess a lot of things are out there, just waiting for me to try (:

Music, Movies, and Books

books: best so far in 2017 is A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara; best forever is harry potter. I've enjoyed everything I've read so far from Zhu Shaolin, Haruki Murakami and Khaled Hosseini.

movies: Blue Valentine, the Before Sunrise trilogy, Departures, Chungking Express, Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind... recent one that I saw and loved was Cold War by Pawel Pawlikowski

music: i'm a newb to rock/metal but it's definitely growing on me. otherwise good lyrics always get me, like sodagreen and cheer chan.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

being alive is amazing on its own?

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a keen learner and listener, so tell me about anything: travelling experience, people you met, history, traditions, languages, your work and family, your daily dilemmas... preferably over a good gin tonic

What I Can Share with Hosts

my 5-cents on the best trattoria in Rome, b&w vs colour photography, chinese politics, AI, italian coffee, and whether wine is going to prevent heart disease.
