I took the red pill and I want to see how deep the rabbit hole goes...
I would tell you all about me if I knew! Life is all about exploring the world, making our experiences and find out all about ourselves. I am so glad I'm not done discovering myself because "it's a great thing when you realize you still have the ability to surprise yourself" (Lester Burnam in American Beauty).
How do I see myself right now? Well, again I will use a quote:
"I think of myself as an intelligent, sensitive human with the soul of a clown, which always forces me to blow it at the most important moments." (Jim Morrison)
I tend to not regret things I do even if they may not have been the best decision. It always easier to look back and evaluate but for me it's just important to look back in the end and say "I did it my way"!
In other words: "Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift."
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
In the universe, there are things that are known, and things that are unknown, and in between, there are doors.
CS for me is a door. I participate by going through it.
1) First contact on April 14th, 2009: I met Danny, a CS City Ambassador for Prague and bunch of other couch surfers in Prague for some beers and a very interesting conversation. Too bad I had to leave early to catch my ride back home, but it was inspiring...
2) We had a small party/gathering with some couchsurfers in Berlin May 2nd 2009.. Still not hosted or surfed on a couch but it is getting better and better.
Btw I urge everyone who goes to Berlin should experience the atmosphere around 7 am around Warschauer Straße.. Phantastic..
Sailing, lying in my hammock, playing the guitar, singing, pushing the next button of my ipod shuffle, playing soccer, swimming...
My newest thing is photography. Let's see if that sticks or not...
Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: The big Lebowski, American beauty, As good as it gets, Matrix, LotR Triology, The Shawshank Redemption, Trainspotting, A beautiful mind, Taxi driver, Le Grand bleu (The big blue), La Vita è bella (Life Is Beautiful), Into the Wild...
Sitcoms: Friends, Southpark, Lost, Ellen
Music: I like everything that has a certain quality of melody and lyrics that have a meaning to me. If you need to hear (band) names: The Doors, Pink Floyd, Queen, Pearl Jam, Depeche Mode, Ben Harper, Yeni Türkü & Sezen Aksu would be the first ones that cross my mind..
Btw, I do not respond to couch request sent by private message, please use the couchrequest functionality and mention at least one of my interests so I know that you have actually read my profile.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of my favorite turkish songs goes like this (translated):
Life has never been a celebration, although isn't every breath I take one anyway?
I have seen a lot of things people would consider as amazing but I can not pick one day and declare it as more amazing than every other day of my life. I know I don't see the Napali coast every day but still - that's my philosophy.
But OK, maybe it's worth mentioning that I once shook Fidel Castro's hand ;)
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach how to swim butterfly, how to play some easy tunes on a guitar, how you should kick a football and how you should throw a basketball and how to make a fool of yourself in a karaoke bar..
