About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Trying to fill our passports before they expire.

ABOUT ME

About En-Chi:
I've moved around quite a bit growing up resulting in having lived in 6 cities and not one for over 6 years, spanning two countries - Taiwan and US. My career is just as stable as my living situtaion. I started out as chemist, left that and joined the U.S. Marine Corps. Currently I am attending law school at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. When it comes down to it, I think I'm just looking for somewhere to fit in.

About Jeff:
I too sometimes feel caught between the western traditional I grew up with living in the US, and the eastern culture and ideals which I now find to resonate with me. So we both enjoy the continued growth, exploration, and meeting new cultures, ideas, and sharing ours with others...

Together (individually as well):
We are easy going, laid back, and just want to enjoy life and what life has to offer.

PHILOSOPHY

Jeff: I love to hang out and chat with other people, talk about ideas - large and small - and in general enjoy community spirit.

En-Chi: A life lived in fear is a life not lived.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We finally moved to a location where there are plenty of visitors from around the world and we would like to help and share. All you have to bring is an open mind and a unique perspective.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My (En-Chi) first couchsurfing experience was when I went on a 10-day trip around Austria and Germany in 2009. I met some interesting people and had a lot of fun. On that trip, I fell in love with the idea of couchsurfing and wanted to participate more once I got home. Unfortunately, I was living in a very non-touristy area and wasn't able to host. After Jeff and I got married, we moved to Washington DC in 2011, finally a chance to host fellow travelers. So far we've hosted over 10 people and have enjoyed every encounter we've had. We love meeting new people and talking about different ideas. We also surfed around in Europe when we were there this past summer - couchsurfing is a no brainer.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Can't think of anything off the top of my head so I guess that means we're still working on it.

Teach, Learn, Share

We have some travel experiences of our own as well as different cultural backgrounds to share. We're always interested in learning about other people and their cultures. The difference in cultures and upbringing should not be a barrier but a shortcut to learning.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

Taiwan, United States
