Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I just hosted my first Surfer and I hope to host more as soon as my living room is geared up as accomodation.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I hosted my friend Sharon in March 2009, having just moved into my house after a long time of travelling and staying with my parents. We had a blast discovering (her) and rediscovering (me) my hometown, cooking together and just hanging out.

Interests

Food, drink, (especially good beer), movies, magic, romance, nature, technology, learning, growth, PEOPLE, their stories, their amazing achievements and terrible mistakes, their joy and pain and how they understand themselves.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Bladerunner, Highlander, Serenity, Cube, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, anything by Kevin Smith, Guy Ritchie, Guillermo Del Torro, Hayao Miyazaki. Wiseguy movies, horror old and new, stupid action movies that lower your IQ while you watch them.
Music: Alabama 3, Bob Seger, Janis Joplin, Eels, Bowling for Soup, Metallica, Meatloaf, a wide variety of house, trance, electronica, metal, soul, funk, rock 'n roll, blues, odd bits of country, jazz, hip-hop, fatal susceptibility to JPop.
Books: Steppenwolf, Batman: Knightfall, Zen And the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, anything by Steven King, William Gibson, Neal Stephenson, Nietzsche, Stephen Donaldson, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, Warren Ellis, Alan Moore.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Damnit, which one to choose? The thing that blew my mind the most: Burning Man. Spending a week in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada in a temporary city of thousands of extrardinary people, who treat everyone like family, give everything away, and express themselves in dance, music, sculpture, storytelling, hugs and unimaginably crazy pastimes.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can cook (both cheaply and with sophistication) and generally understand the principles and techniques around food, and I can write about it (I've food-blogged quite a bit.)
I'm an accomplished techie.
I'm a writer and, I suppose, a story-teller.
I'm a shaman and counsellor, and good at helping others understand and heal themselves.
Most of all I'm good at teaching and supporting others in whatever activity.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
