About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live up to the idea that it actually is possible to create a world of free thought.

ABOUT ME

I'm leading a schizophrenic life where I'm owning a consultancy company operating in a niche area of IT where we provide services for Telecom companies and Banking institutions all around the region - which requires heavy business traveling with all the amenities you would expect which I enjoy very much. In my free time however, I love traveling with just a pair of jeans, two lousy t-shirts and a sleeping bag in a mood what I call the "Bozcaada" (an island in Turkey) spirit. Somewhat "punkish" kind of traveling if you will.

PHILOSOPHY

My life philosophy comes from Rumi:

Keep walking, though there’s no place to get to.
Don'€™t try to see through the distances.
That'€™s not for human beings.
Move within, but don't move the way fear makes you move.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm open to new ideas and to new people. I truly believe that the major problem we have on earth is that we simply don't get enough opportunities to get exposure to different world views. While I have other strategies at play in different areas of life, CS seems to be another nice instrument to realize that ideal; hence my existence here.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

What I'm offering to visitors and therefore the kind of approach I enjoy while I'm on a visit isn't merely an offering of accommodation but a certain level of cultural exchange where it is paid attention that visitors develop a healthy view about the daily life & culture about the places they're visiting.

Interests

History (particularly in context of understanding roots of today's system and human behavior), off the beaten track traveling, cooking, long distance swimming, walking and biking, yoga, photography, reading & writing, movies. Climbing during university years.

Music, Movies, and Books

Authors: John Fowles, Karen Armstrong, Orhan Pamuk
Movies: Kubric, Bergman, Kurosawa
Music: Philip Glass, Pink Floyd, Micheal Nyman, Depeche Mode, U2, Cure, Bach, occasionally some electronic music artists with names I could never manage to memorize.
