About Me

ABOUT ME

I am currently living in London, England after a year's study here. I just obtained my master's degree and my visa will be expiring at the end of July. I have nothing to do right now and want to travel to my family's homeland of Slovenia.

I am seriously outgoing but fiercely independent. I am an incredibly loyal friend and very open minded. I am very involved in sustainability and believe the greatest way it can move forward is through individual action rather than cutting-edge technology. The greatest thing I have learned from my last year in Europe is about different cultures and I never want to stop learning. I am very active and enjoy any sport. I have not had the chance to travel as much as I would like but am attempting to embrace it all as the chance arises. I am very excited about this opportunity and can promise an American friend for life.

PHILOSOPHY

I consider myself a secular humanist. The belief that everyone deserves the same rights as everyone else and should be treated equally - but I do not need a supernatural being to tell me that it's the right thing to do. I believe in nothing but this earth and the power of the elements. I try my best to live my life in the present - to take chances and open myself up to everything possible.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I haven't had the opportunity to offer my floor to anyone other than family members as I live in a student residence hall here in London, but when I move back to the States my floor will always be open, to anyone interested in the American South!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've never officially couchsurfed through this website, however I have had plenty of experiences offering my place to people passing through and I have also borrowed floor space of others who are just as generous. It's a great way to meet people on a more intimate level, rather than just as a passerby.

Interests

Playing football (american soccer) and ultimate frisbee. I love going out dancing or singing karaoke. I'm also into rock climbing, boxing, and snowboarding. If it's a physical challenge I will probably be interested. I am passionate about architecture and sustainability.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I listen to a wide variety (as do most). I love house/electronic music like Deadmau5, but there is a time and place for some 90's alternative like The Spin Doctors, some indie pop like The Postal Service, some indie-folk like The Avett Brothers, and some pop music like Pitbull.

Television: I'm really really into Doctor Who. I have also fallen in love with the BBC Sherlock series that is new. I prefer crime shows like Law and Order and Criminal Minds.

Books: I prefer (auto)biographies about physically fit people who have pushed themselves to the limit. Into Thin Air is a great example. It's the same for movies - I love watching docu-dramas that recount any sort of adversity people have faced as succeeded against in the wild.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Traveling through Istanbul was one of my favourite moments and coming across pieces of the gates to babylon, constructed 6,000 years ago and just being amazed at the abilities and strengths of the populations that long ago. It's something we don't think about often, especially not in the States as we are such a new country. It was beautiful.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love learning new languages, though I'm not very good at it.
I can teach English quite well. I am also really good with computers and programs.
