About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Create meaningful connections with the people I care about.

ABOUT ME

Hi everybody! My name is Eric and I was born and raised in Mexico. I am temporarily living and working in the beautiful city of Ashland, Oregon in the USA. I speak English and Spanish and I hope to be able to learn some Italian soon. I am currently planning to travel in Italy for one month. Most people who know me would say that I am a friendly person. I consider myself to be very easy going and a good friend. Good friendships mean so much to me. Although some times I tend to be shy, I tend to make friends quickly everywhere I go. I am an open minded person and like to include people from all walks of life and backgrounds in my life.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe each person in the world is unique; and for this reason, it is very important to always be aware of what makes us different. I strive to understand and appreciate heritage and culture and at the same time I make an effort to be responsive to the uniqueness of each person I meet. I believe in building bridges.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am new to couchsurfing but I will love to host travelers from all places. My friend from childhood is staying with me for a couple of months, after that, I will have a couch available!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am new, but I have heard wonderful stories from many friends.

Interests

I like to jog in the mornings and go for long walks in the evenings; the walks are my meditative practice. I drink more coffee than I should, and love to hang out with friends around a cup of coffee or a glass of wine (neither of which are needed to engage in meaningful conversations :))I love dancing salsa and going to the dance clubs, I am not very good, but this is one of the things I am not shy about. I like going to the movies and cook for my friends and family. I love to meet people from other countries and I am the kind of person that can get lost in a museum.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Human willingness to make the world a better place does exist! Since I was a child I have seen many acts of kindness in the face of adversity, perhaps the most important ones were the reactions of the mexican society during the earthquake that destroyed Mexico city in 1985 or after the many hurricanes that have affected many coastal towns. In my adult life, I am amazed by the work of social justice activists that sacrifice so much to pursue equality and human rights.
