I am a nice easy going guy..... Updated July 2025

Due to the impact of Covid-19, we need your immediate help to keep Couchsurfing alive.... and now that I am updating again it is June 6th 2025

Well I am a swamp Yankee ... look it up if you care to.... but it is basically going to tell you I am conservative with my money... and since I have never traveled and used couch-surfing as a traveler .... I do not feel the platform should be charging hosts who have never used the website to find other hosts/lodging.

With that said.... I have again broke down and spent the money for two months due to someone requesting a night stay last minute and I didn't have time to notify him differently..... If anyone in the future wants to check if i can host then you are welcome to send your money to couch-surfing to pay for my month and I will respond.

I have hosted many people and it seems all were happy staying at my house. ... I also disagree with the cookies and data collection but that is another disagreement with the management who became greedy as time goes forward.... Newportnorth12 can find me "at" the popular google mail.
Sorry to those who requested a couch in the past since the costs went up to the hosts, and I didn't get to reply.
I think it is enough to supply free housing without paying for it as well, but I am only one voice maybe you'd like to send or support that thought to the management. I do host surfers for 3 night stays after that i feel it is only fair that you support the housing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Is this Couch-surfing or Facebook? Why do I have to have a face book account to leave a reference for others?... This must be something new because I have left references for others before. Now it is worth 35% of my score before I can leave a reference??? I don't need to belong to Facebook or other social sites to be a nice guy and host. If you do stay it is only fair to expect you to leave a review for future surfers. Good or bad, how bad can a free place to stay be rated?

Summer has arrived and I again host international students here in Newport with J-1 visas.... so options on my hosting depend on my students living in the house. You can always contact me at gmail Newportnorth12 since I will not be paying more money to offer housing, it might be different if i was to be seeking someone to host me in my travels, but i have no time to travel at this time.
