Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To see as many places, experience as many experiences and meet as many people as I can cram into one lifetime!
ABOUT ME
I love my friends and family, I love my work, and I love my apartment - but I love, love, LOVE to TRAVEL!!!
While I do like to take in some sites and buy art when possible, my favorite thing about travel is meeting people, learning about other cultures and eating all kinds of delicious food!!!
When I traveled in the past, I was able to spend 2+ months in a place and meet folks more naturally, striking up conversations in cafes or bars. But now my travel is limited to a few weeks at a time so I love that CS gives me the opportunity to meet people all over the world prior to showing up in their city.
And it offers me the opportunity to host people from all over the world and show them my awesome city: HOLLYWOOD!
PHILOSOPHY
I will sum up my personal philosophy in the form of my favorite two bumper stickers:
"Not all those who wander are lost"
and
"Well behaved women rarely make history"
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I hosted someone back in early 2010 but then finishing my doctorate and planning a school took over my life for a while.
I am just now resurfacing and after the new year I plan on hosting some more folks again.
I am hoping that my first surfing experience will be in December when I visit Istanbul.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Katie (from Oregon) showed up off a greyhound bus one night and I immediately adopted her as my new little sister! We talked for hours, I showed her around a bit and brought her to a hat party my friend was having. It wasn't exactly an international experience, but it was a great introduction to hosting a couch surfer!
I look forward to posting my own couch surfing experience here soon!
Interests
I care deeply about education, particularly quality education for students in South Los Angeles.
As I mentioned above, I love traveling, but when I am in town I like hiking, eating hamburgers, playing with my friends, and singing karaoke.
