Über mich

Update on 20 July 2017:
Hi there. Since 1 June 2017, I'm pursuing postgrad degree in a local university, schedule is usually tight.

However I'm allocating time to re-learn French language (for the n-th I stopped and resumed) and would love to meet French speakers and practise the language. I could teach you Mandarin in exchange (I'm expert level :P ; I've learned languages here and there so could give you an overview of Mandarin in comparison to other languages in terms of grammar , pronunciation , writing system etc.)

Meanwhile I started practising mindfulness meditation since 2016 and gained heaps of benefits from it ; would like to share it with those who are interested.

To quote William Shakespeare,

"All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances,
And one man in his time plays many parts,
......"

Some roles that I enjoy playing , include:
-healthcare provider. I'm a doctor working in department of Pathology subspeciliasing in chemical pathology / clinical chemistry. I'm also interested in psychiatry.
-Vegetarian. Hope i can tell and prove to people that vegetarianism won't cause protein deficiency nor anemia.
-Ex-exchanged student to New Zealand in year 2004, under a program conducted by AFS (American Field Service); did my last year of high school there, possibly the only year that I didn't have to drag myself to school.

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin

I miss CS Moscow where we had weekly Tuesday meeting; and monthly world cinema club. Perhaps it's time to organise such activities in my region soon.

I have stayed with and hosted few friends.

One of the memorable experiences is that I met a long lost online CS friend coincidentally in Tokyo in 2013, without knowing each other when/where will we be in Tokyo; so it's our first (physical) meet up in a city of 13 million. Later on, we found out that we had a common host in Taipei.

I try my best to remind myself: I encounter people from all walks of life in the past/present, and I probably had met them before in my past (lives) and will meet them again in the future (lives). I guess, 6 degrees of separation is limited to 6 , perhaps it's due to the connection/bond/ kharma that was formed at each rendez-vous.

Interessen

Philosophy: I have always been wondering what is the meaning of life, how was the earth formed, who created this and that , etc.

Alan Watts, Sayadaw U Tejaniya.

"School of life" , founded by Alain de Botton, contain many interesting , practical talks and lectures about lives; videos are available on YouTube.
Ted Talk is also very appealing and attractive.

I enjoy topics on history, languages, architecture, social studies, religion and philosophy, finance.

One of my favourite books : sapiens- a brief history of humankind by yuval harari. His talks are available on YouTube, and ted talk as well.

Musik, Filme und Bücher

TV shows:
British sitcoms- Mind your language, The vicar of Dibley, The thin blue line, Blackadder, Black books, Fawlty towers, monty python...Any shows with Rowan atkinson and Bill Bailey. And there's an irish one -- Father Ted, esp. season 3 first episode :D
I love "big bang theory" too.

Music:
Classical music, esp. piano and violin. pop songs. Jack johnson, Daniel Powter, Norah Jones, Bic Runga, Jason Mraz, James blunt, Coldplay, Despistaos, Alex Ubago, Juanes...soft rock, folk rock, but not any rocks that cause arrhythmia and tinnitus.

Books:
I read pretty much everything except Sci-fi, and chick lit. I love to read travel guides and travelogues.

Movies:
If my memory serves me well (well, sometimes memory can trick us), I had a list of movies written on CS before the CS moderator changed the interface etc.

Oh well, I used to watch a lot of movies from different regions (except Latin America, it's not that easily accessible). A French friend used to tell me that I have seen more French films that many French do; too bad I can't access the data from my memory database, but what crossed my mind now is : MicMac, Amelie, an actress called Sophie Marceau; A spanish film called the bad education and films by director Pedro Almadovar.

Recent films that I enjoyed are : 100-year-old man who climbed out from the window and disappeared (swedish), dead man talking (French), PK (hindi).
