About Me

I'm currently a student in Raleigh, North Carolina. I was born in Ithaca, NY, but when I was 10 days old we moved back to Brazil where my mom was born, and also where my dad was teaching at the time. We left when I was 4 to go to Cleveland, OH, then moved to Caracas, Venezuela. From there we spent some time in Wilmington, NC before I moved with my dad to Berlin, Germany. After that, we headed to Florida, and while there has been some moving around for me in the US, I'm ready to get out of this country and go back to Europe, preferably for good.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am hoping to meet people all over Europe that might be able to give some advice to someone who is hoping to call Europe his home. I will be traveling throughout the western portion of the continent with my girlfriend very soon, and we're both very interested in leaving the US for good. The more people I can connect with the better. I want to learn about interesting places, interesting people, local foods, culture, etc. I don't want to spend time in hotels or visiting local tourist attractions. I want to hear about places I might be able to find work. I want to build a network in Europe.

Music, Movies, and Books

Any math-rock, post-rock, real mid-west emo, indie, shoegaze, post-hardcore. I like a lot of music, and play a lot of music.
I love fantasy novels. Night Angel Trilogy, Malazan series, Kingkiller Chronicles, etc. Infinite Jest and David Foster Wallace, not because he's fun to read most of the time, but because he was undeniably brilliant.
Movies? Fight Club is pretty much always the first one to pop in my head. I tend to prefer indie movies and movies that make me think.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I decided one day to just pack everything into my Honda Civic and drive from Wilmington, NC to New Orleans, LA. I drove straight without stopping, unpacked my stuff, and slept on the floor because I obviously couldn't fit a bed in my car. I loved the music and the food in that city.
