About Me

Hi! I'm a 29 year old from the northern parts of Sweden, a city called Umeå. My best features I'd say are being kind-hearted, curious and having a wide range of interests. Right now my biggest project in life is to figure out more about the way I want to live in the future and the marks I want to make on our world. That is why I'm travelling at the moment, to explore lifestyles and communities of other people and places. I'm very concerned about sustainability, both ecological and social. In the future I want to work with social and inclusive projects, co-operating to make environmental change. Possibly in combination with teaching for kids, because I enjoy being around kids a lot.

I'm (most of the time) a very social person so I appreciate hanging out with people I meet while travelling. My curiousity keeps me open to all sorts of new ideas. A big part of this trip is to learn and get inspiration from all the various, open-hearted, unique and interesting people I come across, and to challenge myself by relying more on help, kindness and patience, rather than money.

I know the couchsurfing world is a brilliant commuity of fantastic selfless human beings, I've experienced it before many times and had a lot of fun through it. As I haven't so far been in a good position to host, I'm dedicated to giving back to the community by spreading friendship and good energy where I go, as well as teaching something I know or playing a silly game.

I hope to see you, whoever you are, somewhere out there!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because it gathers a wonderful community of people who are just the kind of energy source I need in life to want to go on. I get very inspired and touched by the kindness I've come upon and I'm eager to share of my own.

Interests

My biggest interest right now, and possibly also my current mission in life, is to find fun and useful ways to make use of abundance. I love being creative with what is lying around and build something from what's considered waste, be it a hammock, a musical instrument, or a whole festival (yes, this summer I was part of organising a zero-budget festival where almost everything was built with discarded material and food).

Other than that: I've always been curious to learn new things, and over the years I've collected quite a number of different interests. I like all sorts of games, playing, laughing, singing. I've been very involved in Swedish folk music and dance culture the last years. I'm an accordion player, but I also like to play flute, guitar and a bunch of other instruments. I'm very energised by movement and love dancing, jumping around and different types of sports. I also love cooking, especially when it involves taking care of unused resources (some call it waste) such as dumpstered food stuff and wild growing edible plants.
I'm much into permaculture and sustainability. I think permaculture involves so many good ideas that should be shared around.
I have also practiced theatre, climbed a lot in trees, travelled both far and near, hiked in the woods, and much more.

Music, Movies, and Books

Grew up loving Star Wars, but nowadays I'm more into realistic and relational stories.
Music-wise it's very mixed and broad, but I tend to like the Eurovision Song Contest more than the average person! I'd sometimes say my taste in music is quite awful and I prefer to let other people choose the playlists.
Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy is a hilarious book series.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Realising that I can turn negative events in my life into something positive by understanding how difficulties can teach so many valuable things. The insight of this is one of the cornerstones of my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've been very involved in Swedish folk music and dancing the last years, and I would love to teach this to anyone interested. I also play a range of musical instruments.
I'm passionate about vegetarian/vegan food and cooking, and especially about food made from edible wild plants, which I can hopefully also share some knowledge about.
If you are new to permaculture, I would be delighted to talk some about this :)
I also have a bunch of games, songs, acrobatic tricks (e.g. acro yoga) and more to share if you like.
And I'm much into helping out with various things that e.g. require physical work, or technical assistance (computers etc). Helping out with whatever I may is one of the things I like the most!
