Hi I’m Erika, semi-new to couch surfing... (last used in 2015)

I grew up on an apple farm in upstate NY and have worked as a renewable energy developer since 2017. I recently decided to move to NYC and have been taking a “gap year” and really focusing on exploring myself and the world.

I am spontaneous, outgoing, and really enjoy meeting new people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Im on couch surfing because when I travel my main goal is to learn/experience/understand the culture and how people live their day to day lives. Im generally an easy going laid back but energetic fun loving person so couch surfing is really the ideal experience!

Interests

Will gladly talk about any topic. I am opinionated but very open minded! Pretty liberal. Ready to vent about American politics...

Music, Movies, and Books

Music- just about anything, also play piano/french horn and working on guitar. LIVE MUSIC !

Movies- I probably haven’t seen it, but I watch a lot of Netflix documentaries

Books- usually 2-3 at a time. I enjoy historical fiction but always looking for recommendations.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

just one?! Skiied the alps, completed the ring road in Iceland (got stranded on a closed road in a snow storm- and lived to tell the tale), lived in Spain & Colombia, and so much more!

Teach, Learn, Share

Renewable energy is my main thing and then I have also been working on a tech start up that is a toy for children with disabilities that uses sensory inputs and outputs to aide with physical and cognitive development.
