ABOUT ME

I'm from San Francisco, CA and have lived in the Bay Area most of my life, now in the East Bay. I've done different things; I have a theatre background (design/production/tech) and worked for a theatre consulting firm but have been out of that for a while. I've been doing things related to social change the past several years, and am doing my small part for a world free of violence in all its forms.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've done a lot of traveling and found that getting a chance to stay with people can be one of the most rewarding parts, so I'm glad for this couchsurfing community, and looking forward to hosting others, too.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

When I was in the Yunnan province of China I spent the night with a family in Lijiang. I was invited by their 3 daughters, the eldest of which was studying English at a teaching college. They lived in their concrete market stall, actually two adjacent stalls, which had metal roll-up doors they closed at night. They shared their dinner with me, and then we all went to sleep. I spent the night on a small mattress in one of the stalls with the kids, the parents slept in the other stall. It was absolutely freezing, but one of the best nights I've had traveling.
