About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To continue to be as happy as I'm right now.

ABOUT ME

Actually I rarely wonder what my friends think of me... They would perhaps say that I'm a down to earth person who's not afraid to challenge preconceptions about people or places and as a result carries many surprises and stories. A person who's not scared to try new things but sometimes is a little naive. They'd probably also say that I'm a nerd, a hard worker and a good problem solver who's too stupid to give up. Other frequently used words would be: adventurous, embarrassing, funny, smart, open minded, a bit crazy, fast talker, musical freak, good with languages and a travel maniac.

PHILOSOPHY

I try to focus my energy on the things in my life that make me happy and I rarely waste time worrying about all the rest.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've hosted people visiting Malmö and soon I hope I'll have the chance to surf myself.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

100% good experiences so far. The people I've met have been really nice and easy going, so I'm definitely continuing with CS.

Interests

Oh, there are so many interests out there that I havent discovered yet, but as for now:

I'm a food-adorer. Doesn't matter if it's street Pho in Vietnam covered by a layer of exhaust gas or a fancy restaurant in Paris that only serves one dish. Everything has to be tried, tasted, remembered, or forgotten. Trying new food is like opening a lid and peeking into another world. The best way to learn to know new people, if you ask me, is by sharing a local meal and talk.

Another big interest is music and sound, but more in the technical way than as a consumer. I work as a music producer and am totally fascinated by the sound landscape and the geek-iness behind it.

One obvious but yet true fact would be traveling. I can not stay in the same place for too long. I need to see new things and meet new people to keep my mind fresh. I rarely feel the need to go where everybody else is going. Even though a crazy party weekend in a big city with friends can be shamelessly funny I'm more about getting impressions and insights about cultural aspects that is far away from myself. The harder something is to grasp, the more intriguing and enriching I find it.

A great way to spend time is with an interesting person with a story. I love to discuss things, objectively and rationally, without fighting about it. The most trivial topic can turn into a fascinating discussion with just a little imagination and open mindedness.

I also love poker and chess and to play the piano. I try to read more, but there's so little time!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sleeping outside under the star painted sky in the middle of the silent Jordanian desert completely alone, watching Perseids meteor shower passing by. Stars were falling with burning tails, just like in the comic books. It was a feeling that cannot be described, like being absorbed by nature. Arabian nights... :)

Driving down the highway one from San Francisco to Los Angeles a beautiful day with windows down and rock music.

Taking the MagLev train in Shanghai. The 12 year old boy inside me came alive and I was totally amazed by this soaring train that I couldn't bear myself. The vast contrast in enjoyment between me and the three women I was traveling with, who did not see the fun, made the trip extra memorable.

Reaching the summit of Sweden's highest mountain. It's indeed nothing to compare with other mountains in the world, but it was nevertheless a great feeling to actually get all the way up and just enjoy the view and absorb the well deserved sense of accomplishment.
