Sobre mí

CURRENT MISSION

In search of happiness through a love of law, the arts, and all things international

ABOUT ME

Hey! My name's Erin and I'm a twenty something (recent!) lawyer who likes to walk to the beat of my own drum. I'm a small town girl at heart who currently lives in the big city and I'm always up for a good adventure. My love for travel began when I did an exchange to France in undergrad and I've never looked back since! I've popped around many countries in Europe, I lived in India once, and last summer I did another set of exchanges to Italy and Israel! Although seeing and experiencing new things is amazing - the best part about travel is meeting new people. There's nothing better than getting caught up in hours of conversation with someone with a wildly different perspective than yourself. So if you're up for an adventure, a long conversation, or anything in between, give me a shout!

PHILOSOPHY

If you can dream it, you can do it.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm new to couchsurfing - but I'd like to use the medium to go places and meet new people. Specifically, I'm interested in events and perhaps even couchsurfing myself! I'd love to offer up my couch to others, but unfortunately I don't live alone and my roommate is not so cool with having strangers in the house. But - in the future the option may be open!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have only surfed a couple of couches - but I have friends who've done and have shared amazing experiences.

Intereses

As mentioned in my 'about me', I looove to travel - more so to meet new people and experience a place than to sightsee. (I think sight seeing is HIGHLY overrated). I also love music and the arts - I play piano and sing but I also appreciate visual arts and going to loads of performances. I'm also a corporate lawyer and I really enjoy delving into cross border mergers and acquisitions. Makes sense that I like to mingle with international folk then, doesn't it?

Música, películas y libros

I'm a girly girl so I love all the classics - Breakfast at Tiffany's, Sleepless in Seattle, Pride and Prejudice. Sigh. A hopeless romantic at heart I suppose. As for books - right now I'm mad about Marian Keyes. Her stories are so clever and unique! As for music, I'm pretty eclectic and I like different genres for different activities (aka female vocals for when I want to belt out a tune, top 40 for dance parties, mellow indie music for mellowing out) but above all, my favourite genre is jazz. So classy.

Algo increíble que he hecho

When I went to school in France, one thing amazing I saw was the way everyone on exchange came together to form a community - no matter our background, language, or country of origin, everyone was welcome. One of my friends was always arranging international dinners, where everyone would come and cook something from their home country and then entertain the group with music, etc from their home country. One time we had an 'african dinner' specifically - and the african students cooked so much food and I played the drums with them and sang in the performance. We did everything pretty last minute so we practiced at like 2 am the night before the dinner and I remember sitting around with my unique group of new friends, playing the bongo drums, thinking 'this is actually pretty amazing!'

Enseña, aprende, comparte

Hmmm....what can I share? I can tell you a bit about Canadian law or finance - that's what I have studied. I also know a bit of french and hindi (Ok, not enough hindi to teach anyone something seriously substantial). Oh! I have my Grade 8 in Piano from the Royal Conservatory of Music and I am classically trained as a singer - quickie music lesson anyone?
