ABOUT ME

I love meeting new people, adventures, and a good laugh!

I've been living in the woods of Cape Breton for the last year working for an organization called L'Arche as a live-in support worker for three people with disabilities. I graduated from social work a year and a half ago, but after my degree I was hoping to get an education before heading back home. No better way to do that than travelling!

Right now interested in meeting local people, trading some stories and checking out some couches! Once getting more settled in one city I will be happy to share the experience for others looking to do the same.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Informally I've been lucky to sleep on a lot of couches around Canada, but I'm new with the couch surfing experience, and looking forward to many future connections and travels

I'm open minded, and love trying things I've never done before. I love listening to and watching live music, reading whatever I can get my hands on, good food, good company, and late night life talks. I like being outdoors and conversations over a cup of strong coffee/or a nice cold beer.

I was raised on rock and roll but enjoy listening to a little bit of everything; Hurray for the Riff Raff, Shakey Graves, The Weakerthans, Donovan Woods, Black Keys (and especially the album "Blakroc"), Of Monsters and Men, Sly and the Family Stone, Otis Redding, A Tribe Called Red, almost anything Motown, Billie Holiday, Bastille, Arctic Monkeys...

I'm also a big reader and always ready to talk about good books and exchange authors.

I've been an English teacher in small town China, did some work in Ensenada, Mexico, and have survived many a Winnipeg winter. Right now I'm living in the woods of Cape Breton, and trying my best to make a garden grow ( I'm not sure if that counts as amazing, but I struggle to keep house plants alive, so if things live this may be a big achievement).
