I've spent some time in houses of friendly strangers while traveling, and we're often having some friends over on our couch. Then went on a longterm travel and used this official medium...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

First it was about meeting people very different from me. Which changed after several months of traveling far away, to more being drawn towards people like me, meeting fellow travelers, getting a taste of the West if you like. And a year from now I'll know what now is.

hitch-hiking through eastern europe, meeting people you normally never meet, lots of prejudice gone.
first time outdoor climbing: camping, drinking coffee, going to the rocks and just be perfectly happy there, making it up, orange on the top, nothing to think about but the next move and bonfire and pastis at night.
