About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To meet people all over the world and make new friends.

ABOUT ME

I'm 55 years old but not sure how I got this old when I still feel like I'm 25. I love to talk to people! I like hearing their stories and telling them mine.

My passions are food and cooking, and I'm on a mission in 2011 to travel the world in search of natural foods and remedies. My website, The Global Forager (http://globalforager.com), tells more about this.

PHILOSOPHY

Everything always works out in the end. If it hasn't worked out, it's not the end.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've been a member for 3 years now, but haven't participated yet. It is my intention to get more involved with the community and meet couchsurfers as I travel the world this year.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I stayed at a youth hostel in Scotland in exchange for helping out around the place. Did a little massage, a little Reiki for some extra cash. Not specifically couchsurfing, but along the lines of.

Interests

Natural foods, cooking, traditional foods of various cultures, angels, Celtic music and festivals, Scottish history (Clan Gunn here), faeries, decoupage and other art forms.

Music, Movies, and Books

American Dreamer, Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, Galaxy Quest. DaVinci Code, Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series, Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series, anything by Anne McCaffrey, the Eve Dallas mysteries by JD Robb. Also love the Twilight book and movie series.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Backpacked through Scotland for six months with no money.

About to set off on an 8-month trip around the world to learn about other cultures and their traditional foods.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a pretty good cook, and am fairly knowledgeable about nutrition and low-carb diets.

I call myself the Grammar Queen. For the past 4 1/2 yrs I've tutored university students in English writing skills, and edited/proofed many papers, including doctoral dissertations.

Also for the past few years have tutored English conversation for international students, so I can help ESL learners to understand the intricacies and idiosyncrasies of the English language (American version).

Countries I’ve Visited

Egypt, France, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

United States
