get some more life experience on my own, find out who I am
I'm a very optimistic person with almost always a sunny disposition and people usually say I smile a lot. I think it's important to have a sense of humor going through life. I'm a college student studying to be an artist at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. I'm very respectful of people and their boundaries and beliefs. Since the age of 13 I've been away from home at boarding school and now college. I've definitely gotten used to communal living as well as living with roommates etc and found that I can coexist peacefully with all types of people. I love to draw and plan on bringing my sketchbook everywhere while I'm backpacking through Europe with my cousin.
I believe in letting go of fear and anger as a way to live a more fulfilling and happy life. I am a spiritual person but It's more that I'm aware there's a lot we don't know about life and maybe someday I'll find out. Kindness towards others has led me far in life.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My Cousin and I are completely new to this site so we have yet to couch surf but I've heard of such positive experiences. I have never been out of the country but traveling Europe has always been a dream of mine and now it's happening!
I view my surroundings through an artistic lens so most of life inspires my art in some way. I love to embroider lately as a way to de-stress or I read a book. Haruki Murakami is my latest favorite author. I also love exploring and live in a coastal town so I'll always be at the beach with my friends or walking/going to concerts. When I'm in Chicago I take advantage of all the great art galleries and DJ/music scene. Anywhere/anything can be fun though as long as I'm with a great group of people.
Music, Movies, and Books
For some reason I have a love for 80's movies and music even though I wasn't born yet. Tears for Fears, Joy Division, The Go Go's, John Hughes, etc. I love the directors Jean Pierre-Jeunet, Harmony Korine as well Jim Jarmusch and David Lynch. Love Vonnegut, David Sedaris, Murakami...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Graduating from a high school with the greatest sense of community left me with such a heartwarming feeling and I'll never forget the people and teachers I met there. I'll also always remember my family's trips to St. John and the ultimate relaxation and contentment I felt there. I'm still waiting for those other awe inspiring moments in life though.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'd be happy to draw you something! In return I'd love to practice French with anyone who speaks it, and maybe learn a little of another language!
