About Me
Heya! Nice to meet u! I’m Eskender from the heart of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. I'm someone who truly enjoys meeting new people from all around the world and learning about different cultures and perspectives. I'm fun loving, easygoing, and always up for a good conversation or a spontaneous adventure. I know Addis Ababa very well, from the popular spots to the hidden local gems and I’d love to help you explore the city like a local. Whether you're looking for a guide, a friend or just someone to share stories and laughter with, I’m happy to connect and make your time in Addis truly memorable.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm on Couchsurfing because I truly enjoy meeting people from different cultures and walks of life. Even though I haven't had the chance to travel outside of Addis Ababa, Couchsurfing has brought the world to me. Hosting travelers has opened my eyes to so many different perspectives, and it gives me so much joy to share my home, my culture, and local tips with guests. I believe that genuine human connection is one of the most beautiful parts of life, and Couchsurfing creates a space for that. For me, it's not just about offering a place to stay — it's about creating memories, exchanging stories, and learning from each other in ways that make the world feel a little smaller and a little kinder.
Interests
I'm passionate about meeting new people, exploring different cultures, and sharing meaningful conversations over good food or a cup of coffee. I love learning about local traditions, music, and everyday life in the places I visit — it gives travel so much more depth. When I'm not on the road, I'm usually reading, cooking, hiking, or planning my next adventure. I believe Couchsurfing is a beautiful way to connect with like-minded people and create genuine friendships across the world. I'm always open to hearing new stories, exchanging experiences, and sharing a laugh or two — that's what makes the journey memorable.

Music, Movies, and Books
I have a deep love for music, and my playlist is always changing with my mood. I enjoy Ethiopian songs, but I also love exploring different genres like Afrobeat, reggae, soft jazz, and even some chill acoustic tracks. I’m always excited when guests share their favorite artists with me. When it comes to movies, I enjoy stories that leave a lasting impression. I like meaningful dramas, emotional films based on true stories, and occasionally a good comedy to laugh and relax. Some of my favorites are Life is Beautiful, The Pursuit of Happyness and Forrest Gump — stories that inspire and remind us of the beauty of life. I also enjoy reading when I have the time. Books like The Alchemist or Things Fall Apart have really stayed with me. I’m always curious to hear about the books or movies that have inspired others — it’s a great way to connect and learn from different perspectives.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
While I haven’t traveled internationally myself, Couchsurfing has allowed me to experience the world through the incredible people I’ve hosted. I’ve shared stories over coffee, helped guests explore the city like locals, and built friendships that cross borders and cultures. It’s amazing how much you can learn and grow just by being open, kind, and curious—no passport required!
Teach, Learn, Share
I love sharing what I know about Ethiopian culture, history, and daily life in Addis Ababa, from local traditions and food to simple things like how we drink coffee or celebrate holidays. If you're interested, I’d be happy to show you how to make Ethiopian coffee the traditional way or introduce you to some local dishes. At the same time, I’m always curious to learn about other cultures, languages, and ways of life. Whether it’s a new recipe, a few words in your language, or hearing about your hometown, I enjoy learning from the people I meet. I think the best part of Couchsurfing is this beautiful exchange — where we don’t just share space, but also stories, skills, and little pieces of ourselves.
