My name is Esmee and I live in Groningen (Netherlands). I grew up in Drachten, its a city 30 minutes away from Groningen. I'm 25 years old, I studied Social work and I love traveling (surprise surprise). I'm an easy going and open minded person. People would say im funny, and I won't deny. I always try to remind myself that even tho I know a lot: I actually know nothing. For me it's important to stay curious and ask questions. The sides effect when I get comfortable with you: I can be very loud and I'll probably sing in your house too. You either love it or hate it.

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin

I have realized during traveling that the people I meet have the biggest impact on how I experience a city / country. Besides that I love to learn about the culture of the country I'm in, and I'm sure the people who live there can teach me a lot about it. Couchsurfing is also a way to get new experiences you weren't planning on. You never know who you're going to meet and if this person fits you. I love to be able to deal with situations like that and to see it as another experience in this wonderful life.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

I lived in Cape Town for a year to do my internship for my study social work, and it honestly changed my life. I worked with youth between 18-25 at a non profit organization. The youth followed workshops about for example the four agreements: its a book where you learn to not take things personally, stop making assumptions, be impeccable with your words and always do your best. I was 18 at that time and it really changed my perspective on life.
