I´m a former nurse from the Montreal General Hospital, but have been a translator since 1996.
I live a very simple lifestyle in a tiny old house in the suburbs of Leiria. My main focus is to blend well with nature and have no interest in luxury or excessive material goods.
My small house has running tap water, toilet and shower facilities, but none of the beautiful stuff that is so appreciated in today´s society.
I have a small backyard with 1 hen, 1 small not so healthy chick, 2 cats, and a dog that is here temporarily.
I also like to grow some edible plants and have a few trees in my tiny yard space.
Inthe village of Cortes we have 2 coffee shops, a townhall, a Museum of National Political History "Casa Museu João Soares", a bunch of restaurants, a tennis yard, the beautiful Liz River, a health Center ( A NEW ONE UNDER CONSTRUCTION), grocery store, a Sunday farmers market, pharmacy, a huge flower mill and many other small , businesses, and the amazing 3 Marias by the Liz River which is now vacant & neglected!
Will add more as the ideas surface!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like to meet new people, but with so many ugly things happening all the time I´m a bit weary of the possibility of abuse ...
Having travelled to Canada in the past, I know how expensive it is to find accomodations while being away from home, and since it can be complicated for those with low incomes I´d like to give a helping hand to those travellers with good intentions...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I´ve done quite a few amazing things, but sitting on the outdoor terrace at 3 Marias sipping coffee while contemplating he Liz River is one of my most memorable experiences in recent years!
