About Me

Hi!

I'm Esther, I grew up in Brussels but moved to Gent to study and stuck around a bit. Right now I'm cycling through Europe indefinitely, so I'm not able to host since I'll probably be lying in my tent somewhere in a forest ;)

I'm very ecologically minded and aspire to live a vegan and waste free lifestyle (and slowly but surely I'm getting there).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I believe that the best way to get to know a place is through it's inhabitants. Not only to have a place to sleep, but also by just meeting up with people who know the area. They know where all the secret spots are and can really show you the true beauty of a place.

Interests

As you can see in the book section of this questionnaire, I love reading!

I also spend a lot of time in the kitchen. And when I say a lot, I mean A LOT. I held open a pop up veggie/vegan restaurant for about half a year, and still sporadically do catering jobs.
Baking is most certainly my passion.

I love cycling so of course do everything by bike. Even traveling! Right now I'm cycling through Europe on my own and I'm meeting the most amazing people through Couchsurfing and Warm Showers (the cycling equivalent of Couchsurfing)
Here is my profile on Warm Showers: https://www.warmshowers.org/user/118905

I'm a big Harry Potter, Doctor Who and Sherlock fan.

A part from that I like singing, crafts and Christmas! Yes, Christmas is an interest.

Music, Movies, and Books

I absolutely love reading!
My favorite books are: Animal Farm and 1984 by George Orwell, Lord of the Flies by William Golding, Brave new World by Aldous Huxley, Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling, Sprakeloos by Tom Lannoye,...
And trust me, the list goes on :)

Music wise, I like a lot of Belgian music such as dEUS, Girls in Hawaii, Robbing Millions, The bony king of nowhere, Stromae, Hear hear a cheer, Hydrogen Sea, Arsenal, Balthazar,...
As of non Belgian music: David Bowie, The Cure, The Smiths, Gabriel Rios, Flight of The Conchords, Nouvelle Vague, Nujabes, Spinvis,...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I got my high school degree without going to school or being home taught. I studied on my own and did the exams.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Tea! All day, everyday :D
Also, if you want to learn about cooking, baking, crafts, gardening architecture or just want to sing along to cheesy music: I'm the person you're looking for!
I'm also up for heated Harry Potter, Doctor Who or Sherlock discussions (in a friendly and respectful manner, of course)!
