I was born in a small city in northern Arkansas called Batesville. I grew up with three older brothers and one younger sister. We spent most of our time playing N64 and Playstation, while listening to whatever music we happened to be in to at that moment. I graduated from South Pemiscot High School, a school located in the small farming community of Steele, Missouri. I attended college in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at Southeast Missouri State University, a four-year university that originally began as a "Normal" School, training teachers.

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin

I enjoy learning from others. Couch Surfing is such a great tool for information exchange, REAL information exchange. E-mail is awesome but learning from another person one-on-one is much more rewarding. I have never been out the midwest and would really enjoy travelling. I hope that Couch Surfing can enable me to do that because I've finally entered into a time of my life where this is possible and would love to take advantage of it. I've lived in a house where one of the roommates is on Couch Surfing, as well, and we've put up a couple of Couch Surfers since I've been there. One was a travelling musician, and another was a pair of interesting guys from Minnesota who were canoeing the Mississippi River and lodging with Couch Surfers along the way.

Interessen

I am ridiculously interested in Classical music, and music of any genre at that. Bluegrass and Folk music are particularly interesting to me as well as Metal in all of its forms. In my spare time, I enjoy longboarding with friends and enjoying the fresh air. Camping/floating/hiking are all things that I enjoy doing as well. I play the saxophone, guitar, piano/keyboard, and I dabble in the band instruments. I would really love to try both surfing and snowboarding.

Musik, Filme und Bücher

I enjoy the music of Igor Stravinsky, John Adams, Tchaikovsky, Panic! At the Disco, Letlive, Polyphia, The Devil Wears Prada, Journey, The Eagles, A Perfect Circle, Movie Scores, Rage Against the Machine, Old Crow Medicine Show, Cannonball Adderley, Dave Brubeck, Phil Woods, Bill Evans, and so many more.

I don't watch too many movies. I like to rewatch the classics of my childhood like Heavyweights, The Sandlot, and things like that.

I am super into the 'Song of Fire and Ice' books. George R.R. Martin has created a world of such complexity that I have had multiple lengthy conversations on single aspects of the series. I also enjoy reading biographies and other books by some of the most interesting people I know, like Leonard Bernstein.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

I was given the privelege of conducting a student ensemble that I assembled and ran myself. I learned so much from the experience. It's impossible to describe what comes along with organizing such a group yourself. Working together on music that, as a group, you all enjoy is quite an amazing experience, especially when it's with a group of your peers. I did student teaching with a local school band and it's a much different event to work with students who need to be taught as opposed to your peers who generally know as much or more than you. When you lead a group like that it's very rewarding because of the information exchange that you can have with that group of people.

My thoughts on all aspects of this world. Some things I might not have any good answers to, or I may have very little to say. Regardless, those are the kinds of things I am most interested in.
