About Me

The first time I left the country was shortly after turning 20 years old, and it feels like I haven't stopped travelling since. Since January 2011, I haven't stayed in the same city for more than six months, and most of my time has been split between the USA and Europe. Growing up, my focus was about learning how to "live to work," like many other Americans, but since experiencing eye-opening encounters abroad, my focus has shifted more so to the living part, than the working.

From 2011 through 2015, I have traveled to over 20 countries, and with the exception of Germany, Switzerland, and Serbia, have spent at least two weeks in each of them (usually more). During my travels, I learned how to skydive, scuba-dive and paraglide, things I try to do wherever I go. These sports have been great ways to meet new friends and to enjoy with old and new friends alike for exciting experiences; so don't be surprised if I get you to join me on some fun adventures!

I'm a geek at heart, so I can bore you with plenty of technical details if you get me going on some topics, but while I do enjoy deep intellectual, philosophical conversations, sometimes it's nice to just chill, too.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

During my travels, I've had many experiences with couch surfers, though the first time I stayed with one was in Peru in May of 2015 with my girlfriend. We had an amazing experience, and I would really like to meet more couch surfers by becoming more involved in the community.

Interests

I can talk about any of these for hours (in order of interest): skydiving, Excel, scuba-diving, travelling, paragliding, American sports (baseball, American football, basketball)

I also like unique new experiences and meeting new people; so say, "Hi!" and introduce me to something new!

Music, Movies, and Books

Picking a "favorite" is too limiting as I'm not very discerning when it comes to music and movies. I would say I generally listen to whatever is on the radio in whatever country I'm currently in and watch the major motion picture releases.

When I have the time to read, I love some good science fiction and scary stories (anything by Stephen King or Michael Crichton), but I mostly do a lot of reading about history and current events. One of the things I like to do when I travel is to learn about the history of the country I'm travelling to, or if I don't have time beforehand, learn while there and read more later.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've been skydiving, motorcycling, and scuba-diving all within 24 hours.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I'm always happy to teach people about skydiving and Excel. I've taught quite a few people on both of these topics and love it when I can help somebody with these.

Learn: Growing up, I never learned a second language (two years of Spanish in high school were completely forgotten), but now I'm trying to learn French and Bulgarian (and possibly others once I've mastered these two). I'm using Duolingo, Coffee Break, and Babbel. If you would like to help me learn, please contact me! Skype or in person practice would be great :)

Share: Let's share some experiences together!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good times and fun experiences. If you're the adventurous type, I love to go hiking and explore new places and activities. Otherwise, I like to chill and talk about whatever interests you today.

I look forward to meeting you!
