About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My mission is to experience joy and companionship with others from all parts of the world.

ABOUT ME

Honest and sincere, appreciate the same consideration from others. Low tolerance for BS. Prefer to do what has meaning to me in life. Appreciate the arts and meaningful conversation.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm interested in the arts, enjoy the outdoors, generally marvel at the world and try to approach life with an open heart.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Participating to help fellow surfers who are interested in making new friends and may not be able to afford a hotel. Have surfed only once through a Peace Corps event page and very selective about whom I host.

Interests

I founded a nonprofit organization in 2004, A Mission of Hope, Inc. (www.amohi.org) which makes documentary videos about people with seemingly impossible goals given their circumstances. Always working on a project or two, so I spend time shooting and editing video, meeting friends for dinner/drinks and making time for a walk a day.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I like all music. Movies: "Braveheart," "Crazy Stupid Love," "Apollo 13," "Good Will Hunting," "Shakespeare in Love," "Subrina," "American Movie" Documentaries="Bowling for Columbine," "The Interrupters," "The Corporation," "Supersize Me." Books: "The Power of Now," Eckhart Tolle, "Vivakananda World Teacher," and philosophical books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Skydiving is one of the most adventurous things I've done, but riding in a hot air balloon and touching the tip top of a tree is something that will stay with me always. Waking in the early morning to a breathtaking view at Sondzela backpackers on the Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary in Swaziland, then walking out for the first time to experience no fencing between wildlife and myself also a feeling that I will never forget. A sense of freedom I will always appreciate is that of skinny dipping in Jamaica in the middle of the day, and floating on the Carribean without a care in the world.

Teach, Learn, Share

Earning a PhD from the University of Life. Always listening, observing and absorbing on many levels. Enjoy sharing as well.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share conversation, humble experience and a willingness to learn about them, their beliefs and surroundings.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Costa Rica, England, France, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Jamaica, Japan, Lesotho, Mexico, Monaco, Spain, Swaziland, Zambia
