About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Invent, create, experience, explore, share, be inspired, have fun.

ABOUT ME

I am a life-long explorer, adventurer, maker of things. I'm an artist, designer, creative director, father, husband, musician, former radio DJ, and hack basketball player. I definitely prefer the road less traveled, and always rather experience a new place through the eyes and ears of locals. Meeting people and sharing experiences is my idea of heaven. I have had several careers already- all in creative industries- have raised two amazing, cool daughters who are my best, best friends.

PHILOSOPHY

The world is basically good, and almost everyone we meet along the way has my (your, our) best interests at heart. Pretty much any problem is also an opportunity for something unexpected. What we can't imagine or don't expect is likely the most satisfying experience. Life is a big, beautiful mess.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I host. I surf. I make new friends.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have a lifetime of experiences of being on the high road of adventure and making friends along the way, and landing on many a couch, hayloft, campsite, pickup truck bed, teepee, spare bedroom. I was a backpacker kid, bike touring teen, hitchhiking cross-country student, and business start-up adult (with very little $$ for hotels when traveling.) I've met lots of awesome great folks over the past few years hosting, and being hosted through CS.

Interests

New foods, soulful music, architecture, architecture, architecture, industrialism, festivals, traditional social customs, well-written books, lush photography, maps, flaneuring (ie. to wander with open eyes but no particular destination)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Oh boy, well, I'm amazed every day to be honest. Seeing my daughter's head emerge from my wife at birth.
And living in Florence with my family while teaching at an art school there.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have considerable expertise in designing: places, objects, products, graphics, communications. I've taught in high schools and colleges. I'm knowledgeable about numerous industrial arts- particularly fire arts like metal and glass casting, ceramics, etc- as well as the history (and future?) of industrialism.
