About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live sustainably and grow amazing food. I have bought a small farm and farmhouse in the foothills of the Alps, above Monaco and Nice.

ABOUT ME

I grew up on the east coast of scotland; studied Eng Lit; worked in India, Thailand and Japan; returned home and became a proper teacher. A few months ago I quit my job and set off on this tramping mission. I walked to Switzerland to take up a job as an Eng Lit teacher in a private school near Vevey. I love the mountains. Then I took a job in Monaco and now I live in the south of France.

PHILOSOPHY

To create is to resist; to resist is to create.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love the concept of a fluid community of good people bound by travelling and coffee and kindness and trust. I've met some great people through C.S and I look forward to hosting in the Alps when I get organisised.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Here, there and around. Some very cool times.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most beautiful thing I ever seen was the Ryo-anji stone garden in Kyoto. I guess I am quite proud that I walked from Scotland to Switzerland. That was hard.

Teach, Learn, Share

I get the point of this, but apart from one failed attempt to learn to 'shuggle' in Winterthur, I haven't learned or shared any major skills couchsurfing. I just enjoy hanging out with nice people I didn't know before and listening to their lives.
