About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To canoe, hike and read as many books as possible in the sunshine. And to eat everywhere possible in the world.

ABOUT ME

I love everything about food, including gardening, cooking and eating it. I'm currently reading, hiking and biking to my heart's content. Other fun Canadian hobbies include curling, running in the snow and falling into Lake Ontario while paddle boarding.

Other random interests include
Grocery shopping
Cooking with others and taking the recipes back with me
Learning about the stories that never end up in history books
Watching plays
Trivia competitions at the local pub
Picnics. Preferably with cheese. And wine. And good bread.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have not had anyone on my couch from this website, but somehow people end up on my couch. This website was recommended by several friends who have hosted and benefited from generous hosts. So I will give it a try.

When traveling, I prefer to crash on a friend's couch. I prefer to get to know people, bring delicious Canadian goods (Maple syrup and my kimchee are popular). My personal best was squeezing with 2 other people on a single sized mattress.

I have always preferred to stay with others, rather then a hostel or AirBNB, as you don't get the same stories and exchange from fellow travelers.

Interests

Everything food related, gardening and escaping into the middle of nowhere for a respite from cities.

I am definitely interested in learning about the local wine, beer and whiskies of your area. And your local hot sauce/pepper sauce/spicy condiment

Other notable interests include grocery shopping when traveling, exploring buildings (And trying to figure out how to get onto the rooftop) and exploring other public transit systems in other cities. I am interested in civic engagement, which often includes city planning and how areas are changing. I am particularly interested in migration and immigration experiences.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love to read!I make sure that I always make time for reading. My favorite books include God of Small Things, Interpreter of Maladies and so much more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have been chased by bears (Several times). Nothing like a close brush(es) of death to make you realize how wonderful life is.

In general if you want to see a bear in Canada, you ask me to go camping with you.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am happy to practice English with English learners.

En plus, je voudrais practiquer mon français avec d'autres.

If you visit me, my time to show and tell you the stories about Toronto. I am born and raised in Toronto. There are little hidden stories all over the place that never end up in history books. Think of it as the Secret Life of Toronto.

I would like to learn about your local wine, beer, whiskies and coffees. And all the hot sauce/pepper sauce/ spicy condiments.

I will also tell you where the best places to eat are. And the secret beaches of Toronto, where you can have a bonfire.

What I Can Share with Hosts

All the delicious Canadian foods. A love of cooking and recipes. Stories. Stories of migration, ideas of belonging and who gets to belong. I can also teach you how to make any vegetable into kimchee. Kimchee orka, kimchee swiss chard...

I will probably end up grocery shopping for you. Especially if you are in need of cheese.

If you would like a fellow occasional runner to join you in a slow run, I will be happy to oblige.
