Overview
About Me
I am just starting a new part-time job at the British Library! That means I am technically a civil servant, and therefore, totally reliable. I am a traditional academic though - I like books, cats, gin, and obscure music.
I am a good houseguest though, as I am quiet, clean, respectful, and don't snore. i will be nosey about your books and dvds, but only in a really enthusiastic way (I'm not a literary snob).
I used to be a couchsurfer, about 7 years ago. Too long ago to resurrect that profile it seems...
Go ahead, Google me, I am easy to find and my identity is not in doubt. No-one would pretend to be me - I am not cool enough, or have enough in my bank, to make it worth their while.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm a bit poor at the moment, since I have given up the glamourous world of full-time administration to rejoin the students. Being a researcher, however, still means I have to do quite a lot of travelling - to visit other researchers, collections and libraries, and to attend conferences. I hope that fellow students, and those who remember the difficulties of being one, will take pity on me!
Interests
Books, books, books.... Ok, I also watch way too much Netflix.
I'm also a bit of a goth, with punk tendancies. I'm a lefty Green political type. Bisexual, and non-judgemental about other people's lives and loves.
I've never met a castle or megolithic monument I didn't like.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm a massive nerd - I like comics, action movies, shoe-gazing psychedelic rock, and medieval history.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I made three wedding cakes so far in my life, and the photos of the couples cutting those cakes make me really proud!
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm slightly obsessed with cake. I make a hell of alot, and will swap my can't fail chocolate cake recipe for a safe sleeping space!
I am a good teacher, if anyone needs baking tips - after all, I am training to teach at the moment, so have some experience. Though, not in kitchens, mostly.
What I Can Share with Hosts
My baking skills, book recommendations (I used to be a bookseller, so I am good at this), willing catsitter.
