ABOUT ME
My name is Evana Douglas, I am a student at temple university in Philadelphia, I´m 21 years old and have been studying spanish and sociology outside of the U.S. since July. My family is from the North of Ireland, near Derry, and I since there are so many of them I spend a lot of time in Ireland. I am a very strict vegetarian and practice veganism as best I can. I would say that I´m pretty laid back and I tend to do things very slow and thoroughly even though I am a pretty proactive person. I really like to travel and though I do like the city atmosphere I really enjoy hiking and other outdoor activity. However, I would definitely say that I´m not a outdoor fanatic or even athletic at that.
Interests
Not to be too repetitive, but I really enjoy the outdoors and just spending time outdoors. Although I´ve been away from home more or less since july 2011, my favorite thing to do is spend time with close friends. I really like cooking and trying new recipes as well as local products or roaming around local markets. Besides local food markets, I love to go thrifting or to flea markets. I really enjoy going to different performances and music shows. I also really enjoy walking and watching movies or TV series- my favorite series to name a few are the wire, sopranos, 6 feet under, south park, treme....

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I once went on a gameride (short safari) in Kenya and saw lions eating the carcus of a zebra while fighting off begging hyenas and vultures. While I was studying in Chile, I climbed Volcan Villarrica which was the most difficult thing I´ve ever done- but that wasn´t a moment, it was more like 8 hours. And I have to mention that I saw Beyonce sing Halo in concert...
Teach, Learn, Share
I´ve gone changed schools various times and I think that that has given me a very open mind about education. I chose to study sociology because it is a very broad subject that has many topics and, to me, everything is presented fairly neutrally so you can form your own opinions based on others or facts. I would have to say I learn at my own pace and some days I progress more than others. In terms of long time goals, I would like to enter the peace corps at one point in my life.
