ABOUT ME

I am a desperate academic searching for some hidden authenticity in a world gone shopoholic mad. I like staying out late, sleeping in, unhealthy but wonderful food, live music, and sailing.

I used to have something subtle here about not trying to surf during big festivals, but everybody just ignored it and wrote me anyway so I'll try this:

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I really enjoy the CS Project. I've hosted dozens of people and love showing off New Orleans. I do wonder why some people continue to ask to surf when they clearly have not read the profile i.e. they are big fans of Rush Limbaugh or it's the middle of Mardi Gras, but c'est la vie

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Every summer I take off and tour somewhere on my bike and try to find hip locals to tolerate me for a day.... Doing the pacific rim this summer- coming soon to a Asian country near you!

The rest of the year I host tired travellers in a slow southern style.

I used to do this, but then I realized that it doesn't seem to mean much really. Everyone from English Professors to child molesting garbage men liked The Simpsons and Arrested Development so that kind of ceases to reveal anything, but if you put down soley obscure things like Proust and Meschiya Lake nobody knows what you're talking about which doesn't reveal much either... So, I guess I like coloring books and eating crayons.
