About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live a life of fun and empathy with some responsibility thrown in.

ABOUT ME

I'd say I love to travel, but on this site, that statement seems a bit redundant. I am a budding yoga teacher and writer. Currently, I make my living writing for other people while writing fiction for personal enjoyment. I'm a newbie yoga instructor who specializes in yoga for people who suffer from severe PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). When I'm not working, I'm dancing, making plans for my next travel adventure, and reading. I really love to read and at any given time will be in the middle of 2-5 books that rotate with my mood.

PHILOSOPHY

Cultivate joy with joy; trust in God but lock your car; if duct tape doesn't fix it, it needed to be replaced anyway; chocolate, when shared, has no calories- and we each need just a little bit of chocolate everyday to keep our bodies in perfect working order.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I participate loosely. I have been to some local CS events and have played tour guide for CS guests of friends on a few occasions. When a guest in someone's home, I have been known to do things such as cleaning dishes, making food, and playing with the household kids and animals.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't yet hosted because it seems as though I only get requests when I'm all ready scheduled to be out of town! I'm looking forward to being able to actually host someone in the near future.

Interests

reading, writing, most styles of dancing, studying, singing, yoga, roller derby, playing with animals, going new places, seeing new things, and meeting new people.

Music, Movies, and Books

books: Pretty much anything I can get my hands on. I have very eclectic bookshelves.

Music: opera; Ani DiFranco; klezmer; bluegrass; Infected Mushroom; Spongle; Yahel; Frank Sinatra; ambient; pretty much anything that makes me want to move.

Movies: Dangerous Beauty; Turn Left at the End of the World; any film with Lior Ashkanazi (he's such a great actor!); Super Troopers

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Ummmm...How do I pick only one or two things!?

Something amazing I've done: When I lived in Tel Aviv, my friends and I used to get together every Friday on what we called "Drum Beach" (aptly named for all the drummers that used to come out). There we would sit during the day, smoking hookah, playing in the water, and building sandcastles. We would also enjoy watching the performers- daytime was for the people into Capoeira, as the sun set, the belly dancers would come out, after the sun set, the fire performers would take over. I was in the belly dance and fire performance camp. When we were done dancing, we'd all head over to a near-by Indian restaurant that was "pay what you can" and we'd sit on the roof all night eating, laughing, and talking.

Amazing thing I've seen: I'm sure this sounds like a cop-out, but it seems as though every time I think I've just seen "the most amazing thing ever!" I find something new to be in awe of.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love sharing knowledge of yoga and massage with people- if someone I'm with has really bad lady cramps, I am excellent at helping to massage those out. I am also really good at teaching other people how to massage those out. In addition, I enjoy swapping recipes and cooking techniques.
