I am a 40 year vegan enjoying a change in lifestyle in Costa Rica.

My reason for coming to Costa Rica was to escape the 9-5 grind in the UK and to live a simpler lifestyle and to be less reliant on money so that I can focus on the next direction for my life.

Alternative ways of living such as work exchange, sharing economies, gift economies, barter economies, cashless economic systems and resource based communities are of great interest to me and I want to incorporate them into my life wherever possible and as often as possible. I enjoy offering my time, skills and services to benefit others.

Currently I volunteer at a hostel in San Jose which is a work exchange, so for 6 hours a day 5 days a week I work on the reception and manage mainly the evening shift from 6pm-12pm but also cover daytime shifts as and when required.

Reception duties include check-ins, check-outs, helping guests with various enquiries such as travel information, booking our taxi service, responding to email enquiries, tour enquiries/booking tours, cash handling and advising location of restaurants, supermarkets, shops and ATMS. Light cleaning of the kitchen during my shift, at all other times we have cleaners but I am more than happy to do more cleaning for future exchanges.

I love San Jose and I have had amazing experiences at the hostel but I am really craving to be in nature/beach and for some bird life/wildlife.

The things I enjoy most include long walks (even better if in nature), meditation, earthing, sungazing, reading, electronic journaling and creating abstract art. I also fast for 29 hours every week, this is the foundation of my spiritual practices.

I try to live a healthy lifestyle means I am vegan, don't drink, smoke or take recreational drugs. I like the quiet life but when I am not reflecting and recharging alone I enjoy connecting with people especially on a one to one basis or a small group, its amazing how you can meet people that are very different from you but have had similar life experiences!

Although I am a raw vegan I enjoy cooking delicious vegan meals for others. I use to maintain a vegan blog, it is still active and gives you an idea of my culinary style.

Happy to help the host move into a healtheir lifestyle through Vegetarian/Vegan/Raw Vegan food as I was vegetarian for 24 years then became vegan in January 2017 and raw vegan since August 2017.

I can help with receipe suggestions, meal plans or just emotional support and encouragement. I have experienced many health benefits and healed chronic issues by going Vegan and also through dry fasting and intermitten fasting. Happy to discuss my experiences and other healing modalities.

CLEANING, TIDYING & ORGANIZING SPACES
Tidying, cleaning and organizing spaces is something I also love doing so if hosts need a hand in general cleaning or to clear out junk or reorganise spaces then I would be happy to help with this also.
