Music, Movies, and Books

Botany of Desire and Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Pollan, Tee Way of the Spiritual Warrior by Dan Millman, THe Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle, Anatomy of the Spirit by Caroline Myss, Ishmael by Daniel Quinn, The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, any books pertaining to gardening or growing food, or the truth about the American food industry (Diet of a Dead Planet: How the Food Industry is Killing Us, and Michael Pollan mentioned above for example).

I enjoy any music that moves my dancing feet: Reggae and Hip Hop are the music of my soul but i groove to Jam bands and classic rock, bluegrass, old time, some classical, i love music period especially new music and genres I'm not too familiar with.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I am a cofounder of a student group called SPROUTS (Students PRoducing Organics Under The Sun). It is a student run organization that established an organic garden at Indiana University. We teach and have volunteers help us out. We compost one dorms food also and will hopefully soon provide them with some produce. For one of my undergrad degrees, I wrote an instructional guide about designing and maintaining a garden like the SPROUTS garden...its actually was written for the successors and specific to what we grew in the garden. Its a 75 page full color book that will be published in September and used at IU Spring and Fall 2009.

I've traveled to Israel, India, and Jamaica. Israel was in high school for a youth group trip where i spent 6 1/2 weeks traveling about Israel and its many beautiful cities and regions. It was also an educational and religious trip.

India was in 2005, me and 8 other friends formed a band called Baraka (check us out on www.myspace.com/barakabeats) we went as part of the Art of Living's Silver Jubilee Celebration: An International Conference on Human Values. We meditated together for three days and had multicultural shows where we played in front of a crowd of 20,000 people and participated in the celebration with 1.5 million people in Bangalore, India. I also received a staff with a statue of Hanuman on it from a saddhu. Its a very powerful and holy gift.

Jamaica was part of my undergrad. I learned about how they sustainably farm in the mountains and live off the land as much as possible. I begane to learn about medicinal herbs and plants here too and have studied them since.
