About Me

Experience life before getting my a** into the Corps

My name is Eric Ding, currently a student in New York University - on absent of leave at the moment to experience the world.
Male, 21 years old
I try to disconnect from material possession as much as possible.

Unhappiness is indirectly created by desires. Desire creates an expectation and thus a potential for disappointment. These expectations are often not met, creating distress.
The more the desire the more unhappiness - therefore, I try to control my desire.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There are 2 things I am most proud of myself for doing, and I would like to share them with you in chronological order.

During the summer between my 2nd and 3rd year in college, I participated in the United States Marine Corps Officer Candidate Program. Hands down, that was the hardest thing - "hardest" is an understatement - I have ever done in my life. Running, literately, on 5 hours of sleep with my feet bruised, and eating so much because next time you are able to eat is probably 12 hours later while your instructors screaming at your, made me a harshness-resistant.

During my 3rd year in college, I choose to not to rent an apartment - for economic and adventure reason. I couchsurfed for 4 month, efficiently unitizing the public facilities of my university. I carried one backpack (which contains a set of suit, my computer, a towel and toiletries, and a water bottle), took showers in gyms, and survived.
