About Me
ABOUT ME
Well, I guess I now call Shenzhen, China home. After graduating university in 2008, I decided that I was more interested in traveling than pursuing an entry-level job in a bad economy. So, I moved to the Middle Kingdom and got a job teaching English. At the moment I am backpacking through India with the aim of eventually travelling overland back to Shenzhen.
PHILOSOPHY
Not nihilism, but I'm pretty sure nothing matters. I mean, it does, but at the same time, it doesn't. Is that too zen? I believe in conducting oneself with decency and taking care to enjoy and appreciate the very short time that we are on this earth.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
At the moment I participate by sleeping on the couches offered me by generous other surfers. Once I get my new place set up I'll happily host any confused souls who have somehow ended up in the strange industrial center that is Bao'an, Shenzhen.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have surfed many a couch in my day, but never one through this website. So at the moment my Official CouchSurfing Experience is limited to hearing plenty of enthusiastic testimonials.
Interests
Playing the guitar and listening to all sorts of music, especially jazz and, lately, glam rock. Skateboarding is something I have done for a very long time and feel very strongly about. My inner jock surfaces when I play basketball. I am also trying to write a book.

Music, Movies, and Books
Backpacking in India, I opted for Karma Cola over Shantaram. The Great Gatsby is an American classic and I enjoy anything written by Charles Bukowski or David Foster Wallace. I don't watch many movies but really like Baraka.
Teach, Learn, Share
I will happily teach anyone how to play guitar, ride a skateboard, brick a layup, or speak Chinese like a wei guo ren.
