About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see beautiful things and meet beautiful people, and write about both.

ABOUT ME

I'm an easygoing, open-minded book and music nerd. On any given night, I can be found sitting in my front yard with my record player and paralyzed dog beside me, reading whatever odd type of literature I might be into that week. I don't really believe there's anything better than being surrounded by music, the type that you feel in your veins as it passes through you. I grew up the country so I adore all things animal and nature-related (with the exception of bugs, particularly spiders. I will cause a spider scene at the most inappropriate times.) I love to cook, but can only seem to get my mom's recipes right, so I make these totally normal meals like meatloaf and lasagna, and envy those who can pull of the food channel inspired exotic dishes with ingredients that are foreign to me. I spent my entire life wishing I knew how to play the guitar, and finally learned at the age of 26. I love to write in any format. I've taken a lot of vacations, but I've never just traveled, which I plan on doing this Fall. Until then, I'm happy to host road wanderers passing through Omaha (provided you are cool and not creepy), in hopes of learning and gaining advice about the joys and perils of drifting around the world.

PHILOSOPHY

"Sometimes I can hear my bones straining underneath the weight of all the lives I'm not living."

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm completely new to this couchsurfing universe, but I have a friend who travelled through Europe as a couchsurfer and she has only good things to say about her experiences. I have this completely unsubstantiated belief that couchsurfers are some of the most interesting and friendly people out there, and I'd like to prove the theory to be true.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've jumped from a 45 foot cliff into shark-I won't say infested, but there were some dorsal fins present waters in Lihue, Hawaii. I have seen my favorite band perform live 8 different times. I own a paralyzed dog who constantly smiles and reminds me it's always possible to adapt and re-learn how to be happy. I have been wildly in love.
