About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Just keep swimming, just keep swimming...

ABOUT ME

Goofy, energetic, fun-loving, sincere, serious, perfectionistic, self-motivated, nerdy, easily-entertained, somewhat competitive when it comes to volleyball, in general friendly and open-minded guy.

I also make a mean pico de gallo salsa, so I'm told.

PHILOSOPHY

Tread lightly, be kind and open-minded, laugh often.

Take your work seriously, but don't take yourself too seriously.

Now who in the world do you want to fight?
It's against the system we should unite
Homophobics ain't alright
If you learn to love then you might love life

Dip dip dive, so-so-socialize
Open up your ears and clean out your eyes
If you learn to love, you're in for a surprise
It could be nice to be alive

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have only surfed so far, but at some point in the future when I have a place of my own I'd love to host surfers as well.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have couchsurfed in France, Holland, and Namibia. So far it has been a completely positive experience; I have met so many friendly and interesting people!

I also went to a couchsurfing meetup, which was great and which I recommend doing for sure. It was fun to meet locals and hear about the city from their insider perspective.

Interests

Being outside and being active. In general I'm a busy bee, some of my favorite things to do are gardening, running through the woods in the rain, biking, hiking, lifting weights, kayaking, and playing volleyball, soccer, and basketball. I love being with my friends, listening to music, and cooking .. all at the same time.

Science. I studied chemistry in college but I am quite interested in ecology and biology as well and hope to pursue environmental chemistry or environmental toxicology or something like that in the future.

Vegetables...growing them, eating them...I loves 'em.

Music, Movies, and Books

I LOOOOVE listening to music. Mostly rock and hip-hop, but the diversity of my ipod's contents surprises people. Different sounds for different moods I guess. I'm not into country or Top 40.

Some favorite bands/singers: The Strokes, Blink-182, Arctic Monkeys, 311, Cake, Weezer, Sublime, Ben Harper, Flogging Molly, Radiohead, Beck, Raconteurs, Smashing Pumpkins, Interpol, Rage, REM, Arcade Fire, Bob Marley, Muse, Transplants, Offspring, Brand New, Slightly Stoopid, Flogging Molly, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Prodigy, Sam Roberts, Smiths, Foo Fighters, Spoon, Thermals, G. Love, Wyclef Jean, The Dirty Heads, Death Cab For Cutie, The Crystal Method
Older Stuff: Billy Joel, The Beatles, Jimmy Cliff

Some favorite rappers/groups: NaS, Tribe Called Quest, MF Doom, Ludacris, Beastie Boys, Eminem (his old stuff), Blue Scholars, Busta Rhymes, Clipse, Bone Thugs, Mos Def, The Roots, Fabolous, Wu-Tang (especially Method), Mobb Deep, NERD, The Weeknd, Outkast, the list goes on...

I like comedies and action movies, especially if they have Robert Downey Jr. or Brad Pitt. They are hilarious. Jeremy Renner and Mark Wahlberg are also really good. Actresses? Jessica Alba. Just watch Sin City...

I mostly read non-fiction stuff. I'm currently working on "The Tipping Point" by Malcolm Gladwell.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Swam with sharks and was able to pet rays while snorkeling off the coast of the island of Moorea in the Society Islands of Polynesia.

Saw lions and African wild dogs and leopards and cheetahs in Botswana.

Completed the Insanity workout series. Insane why anybody would want to do that to themselves since it is sort of a masochistic endeavor, but, at the same time, it feels amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am an encouraging workout buddy and can try to teach you to stand on an exercise ball! In terms of more practical skills, I tutor math and science and I'm a patient teacher.

I would love to learn some neat break-dancing moves, and I definitely want to learn how to hacky-sack better.

Countries I’ve Visited

Botswana, France, French Polynesia, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Kiribati, Mexico, Namibia, Netherlands, South Africa, Turkey, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

Mexico, United States
