About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To discover whether anyone involved in couchsurfing ever find their way to Western Pennsylvania.

ABOUT ME

I used to be a wild and crazy, adventurous, go-everywhere kind of gal. Then I had kids. Now I am a sometimes traveler and full-time graduate student who moves more slowly with kids in tow, usually on my way back and forth across the Atlantic (that means you, Europe), or across the North American continent. Still, though, I am energetic, curious, and adventurous (kids can't break you of everything!).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We host and travel both. Yippee!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have been both the surfers and the surfees. We like to host and be hosted. CS has been an amazing experience on both ends, and while we were living in Muscat, Oman, we did a lot of hosting. Now we hope to continue with couchsurfing in the USA. Although we cannot offer a wild and crazy time here in Western Pennsylvania, we can offer some good food, a fold-out sofa on which to crash, and some good conversation.

Interests

Hiking and wandering in the mountains, swimming, biking around the area, good food and friends, and seeing what there is to see...these are a few of my favorite things. When I am not busy teaching, studying, or doing side work, this is what I like to do.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Where do I start with this? I am awestruck by so much and have had so many rich experiences that I am at a loss. On a day-to-day basis, teaching shows me much by which I am awed. More broadly speaking, I am constantly awed by the kindness of strangers and the universality of so many emotions, desires, and ideals.

Teach, Learn, Share

Desperately seeking honest, interesting, kind, patient people who don't mind a wacky black and white cat that looks a bit like a cow, and three sometimes-loud, highly curious children.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Unfortunately, we do not have the massive house that we had in the Middle East anymore. Our digs now are tiny in comparison. However, we still are willing to host one or two people if you are early risers and don't mind a very comfortable sofa-bed to sleep on. We have slept on much simpler and been very happy, so we thought we would offer what we can and see who is interested.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Ecuador, France, Germany, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In
